The finest chili crab you can find in Singapore! Not in the city center, but frequented by locals with fair (albeit high) pricing to reflect the quality of food. Menu with seasonal prices available on their website for full transparency. Made a reservation for 5 pax on a Tuesday. We ordered the lobster, and a crab, which we opted to be split into salted egg crab and chili crab. Also ordered a plate of fried mantou for dipping in the chili crab sauce (which proved wasn't enough as we quickly ordered a second plate). Choose your live seafood from the tanks, and don't forget to take a pic! The lobster seemed quite pricey, but it was well worth. Recommend adding on noodles, a vehicle for the delicious sauce. Very tender and sweet meat, and they diligently pick out every possible piece of meat table-side, including the tiny legs, so no piece goes to waste. The crab was very good as well - I personally liked the salted egg yolk crab more, but the chili crab was good as well. The chili crab sauce is a thickened by cornflour/cornstarch, low spice, notes of tomatoes, and suspended ribbons of egg. The mantou is necessary to sop up all that sauce. If you join their "member" group, you can get 10% off the bill! My friend joined during payment, and we were able to use the discount immediately. Very attentive waitstaff, and spotless bathrooms.

We had an amazing dinner at Chin Huat after watching the light show at the Gardens by the Bay. One of the highlights was the garlic crab. We were asked to pick the crab and the chef will cook it. We did the same thing for the fish. I forgot what was it called but the sauce and the texture of the fish did not disappoint. I wish we took photos of the food but we could not wait to devour. Another good thing is the staff. They were friendly and accommodating. They were the ones who recommended everything we ate and everything was so good. This alone warrants a 10.

Chilli crab and desert coconut pudding are the best, must make advance reservation otherwise won't be able to have seats available and enjoy their seafoods

LOCALS BEST CHILI CRAB It's early December and an umbrella is a must travel accessory. Got on a super clean Bus #75 on Tanglin & told the driver where we were heading. No worry he said. Just grab a seat. Well between the long bus ride and the walk we had arrived early, and this Cantonese seafood restaurant in the suburbs was already packed to the gills both inside and out. There was a feeding frenzy of epic proportions as though the food had been for free (of course not). Most fortunately, we sat inside with a/c but right near the high traffic kitchen. A reminder that space is premium in SG. Our jovial waitress kept things moving in spite of the number of very demanding Chinese diners she serviced. We had ordered Silver Seafood Hor Fan (wide rice noodles); HK Kai Lon with garlic; Sri Lanka Crab chili style; and to conclude with Coconut Pudding for dessert. Experience told us to bring lots of wet towels. The chilli crab was simply orgasmic. Not a drop of the savory sauce was to be ignored. Sucked our fingers like nursing infants. This meal simply cannot be real. A Sunday seafood dinner never ever to forget. Now I fully understand why Chin Huat Live Seafood is so popular with the locals.

This is a classic Cantonese seafood restaurant in the Clementi district on Sunset Way. It's outdoor seating, but there's a private section that has A/C. It's popular for chili crab. Cool thing about this place is you get to choose your crab- that's pretty Asian. The pork spareribs are melt-in-your-mouth. There's no bone, but it still has that tender fall-off-the-bone texture. It's super savory and has a lightly sweet taste to it from the fat and marinate. Also, the spinach with salted egg soup is delicious. Yangzhou fried rice has a nice peppery taste. Chili crab is the obvious star though. Not as delicious as Malaysian chili crab (sorry, Singaporeans- I know about the argument between who has the best food- Malaysia or Singapore), but still deliciously spicy and hearty. The mantou (bread) is crispy and soaks up the chili for dipping. One more thing, for dessert, the coconut pudding dessert is amazing. The pudding is in a young coconut and it's sweet and doesn't have any artificial taste to it. It's one of the best Chinese desserts I've had! Clementi is a residential area, so there's not going to be many gwei-loh's or tourists. It's more local since it's not in the town, but the food here is super good.

The restaurant was located at the ground floor of a HDB block. There was indoor air con and outdoor non air con dine in area, as well as private room. The place was packed and a bit noisy. Braised Ee Fu Noodles with Mushroom 鲜菇干烧伊面 ($11.80) The flavourful golden brown egg noodles was made from wheat flour, braised to perfection and served in dry style with mushrooms. Flavourful stir fried dish. Golden Sauce Crab 招牌黄金蟹 (南瓜汁)Seasonal Pricing The signature dish was created by Chef Niun Hock Leong and was the number one must try dish on the menu. It was served with deep fried buns ($1/ pc) which tasted when soaked up the rich creamy sauce. Hong Kong Kailan 香港芥兰 ($16) Crunchy vegetables. Home-made Beancurd with Special Sauce 家帝豆腐 ($24) A simple and nostalgic taste of home, made with chef's special sauce, served on a bed of chef's daily selection of vegetables. The beancurd although deep fried, was soft in the mouth. Steam Fish Hong Kong style 港成䒱魚, using Parrotfish 青衣鱼 Steamed in superior soya sauce, this method of preparation retains the natural flavours of the catch, allowing one to fully appreciate the tender flesh of the fish. The fish was sweet and meaty but it came at a high cost at $130. Vegetarian Fried Rice 斋炒饭 ($11.80) Fragrant wok-fried rice, tossed with chinese mushrooms and carrots. Look not bad. Roasted Chicken 脆皮烧鸡 ($24) The meat was tender and flavourful. Crispy Cereal Prawns 香脆麦片鲜虾 ($48) Crispy fried prawns coated with flavourful cereal bits Like that the prawns were served de-shelled, with the cereal bits crispy around. Coconut Pudding 椰子布丁 ($7.80) A chilled silky-smooth pudding made from fresh coconut flesh and juice. It was served topped with a scoop of coconut ice cream. The pudding was light and smooth. For 2 tables, the bill came up to about $1008, which sounded a bit expensive considering the number of dishes ordered.

One of Singapore's best national dishes, the chili crab, did not disappoint from Chin Huat Live Seafood Restaurant! Their chili crab sauce was thick, creamy, and flavorful with a mild hint of spicy. The perfect amount of heat from the sauce didn't hinder the meaty crab's fresh taste, though make sure to get a plate of buns to scoop up all the leftover sauce. It's a messy dish to eat with your hands, but so delicious! Enjoy with fresh coconut water to help sooth the heat and overall richness of the chili crab dish. The bamboo clams with vermicelli noodles were great as well, and the savory broth was delicious with rice. The drunken prawns were large and succulent, though the taste of wine wasn't prominent. Overall the seafood here was delicious and very fresh, and you wouldn't expect any less since you pick out your meal from the live fish tanks.

Chili crab was one of the culinary reasons I wanted to visit Singapore and it did not disappoint. Highlights: - Chili crab: such succulent large pieces of crab meat. Chili was tomatoey with a tiny bit of spice for a nice balance that didn't overpower the natural flavor of the fresh crab. 5 stars. - Black pepper crab: didn't know this version existed and being a pepper fan loved it so much. Best thing was having a piece of this and the chili crab and blending the sauces together upon dipping a piece on the plate. 5 stars. - Shrimp: simple fresh full ones. 4.5 stars - Take out: we took out our meal and it was still good. Lowlights: - Can't get this at home and will be craving it until I can have it again. Second to my best friend living in this country, I'd return to Singapore for this crab.
